A control app for a smart sleep system—mattress, bed frame, thermal pad, and pillow—with AI tuning and sleep tracking.

Background

Oval Home is a complete smart-sleep hardware ecosystem—an adaptive spine mattress with zonal control, a dual-zone thermal pad, an adjustable bed frame, and a smart pillow. With so many devices and parameters, leaving them in isolation becomes a bedtime burden. It needed an app to pull the whole system into one intuitive whole.

Challenge

The hard part of a hardware-control app is the tension between complexity and reassurance. Each device has many modes and dozens of parameters—laying them all bare is anxiety-inducing, burying them strips away control. The challenge was a consistent, predictable control language, free switching between AI and manual, and turning a flood of physiological data into visuals that are legible at a glance and even calming.

Action

We grounded everything in a calm dark interface with a signature gradient from warm orange to cool blue—echoing temperature control and the passage from sleep to dawn. Control is unified into predictable modules: every device has an "AI Smart / Manual" toggle, clear current and target values, and consistent sliders, so all four operate with the same feel. Sleep data appears as a quality ring, colored hypnograms, and day/week/month/year trends, organizing heart rate, HRV, breathing, and temperature into a readable dashboard, alongside scheduling, multi-device, and family management.

Results

A smart-sleep app that makes complex hardware reassuring and easy to grasp—through a unified control language, free AI/manual switching, and calm, detailed data visualization, Oval Home lets users command every device effortlessly and read their own sleep each morning.
